Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
User is seeing multiple definitions created in /etc/hosts across our Oracle Linux 6 instances.

# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6
xx.xxx.224.5 hostname.oraclevcn.com hostname
xx.xxx.224.6 hostname.oraclevcn.com hostname
xx.xxx.224.9 hostname.oraclevcn.com hostname

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
/etc/hosts should be cleaned by removing the stale (old) entries

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

#1 Create a new instance.
#2 Terminate the instance, maintaining its boot volume.
#3 Recreate the instance, re-using the same boot volume.
