OAC/OAC-Classic - Dynamic Repository Variables Doesn't Work When Using Remote Data Gateway (Doc ID 2592544.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Analytics Cloud
Oracle Analytics Cloud - Classic - Version 105.3.0 to 105.4.0 [Release 105.3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The use-case is applicable for the below environmental setup.

OAC is configured to use Remote Data Gateway to query data from On Premise datasources ( such as Oracle Database On Premise). Dynamic Repository variable is configured to use in OAC RPD that is pointing to a valid connection pool. The RPD is uploaded into OAC using "Replace Datamodel" method and the variables are being used in the analysis

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

The dynamic repository variables are always returning the values that are provided in the "Default Initializer" value on the variables, and it never returns the value that are coming from the database through the initialization blocks.

But the same connection pool returns proper values for session variables and Subject Area based Analysis, so there are no issues at the connection pool.

Changes

After implementing Remote Data Gateway to enable direct On Premise database connection, the dynamic repository variables stopped fetching results from the initialization block, and returning the default initializer value always.
