Opportunity Mass update of Status throws error for Business Unit

When attempting to use the 'Mass Update' action on the Opportunity Landing Page and trying to set the 'Status' field, user is getting error

'You cannot update the value in the field Status because you have selected records that have different values in the parent field BusinessUnitId.'

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Use Mass Update on Opportunity Landing Page and try to set the Status field.
Observe the error being thrown.
