Non-monetary Compensation Items: Can Units LOV be Extended?

We are attempting to define a category of non-monetary values that are percentages. The current LOV for Units when defining a compensation does not match our needs. for example, if I select Non-Monetary as the type, I am required to enter units, whatever value I select is rendered with the value (so, instead of seeing 50%, it is rendered in the statement as 50 units)
