Unable to Detach Boot Volume from OCI Instance (Doc ID 2601728.1)

Symptoms

  1. When detaching the boot volume from a stopped instance, the following message pops up:
    • An Unexpected Error Occurred.

      Details:

      Invalid parameter - Instance <OCID> has IDE boot volume type, which cannot be hot plugged or unplugged

  2. In the instance information screen the Launch Mode is set to Emulated
