Not Able To Relay Mail (SMTP) Through Microsoft Office 365 Mail Server (Doc ID 2607628.1)

Symptoms

Problems when relaying mail from a Linux system through Microsoft Office 365 SMTP server, and the following error shows in the mail logs (/var/log/maillog):

status=bounced (host smtp.office365.com[<IP-Address>] said: 554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message Cannot submit message
