Last updated on JULY 06, 2020

Applies to:

Content and Experience Cloud Classic - Version 18.4.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

 Use Case:
------------------------------
1. Customer is attempting to display a Content List one of their site pages, but the list is not yet populated; thus, it is an empty list.

2. Customer created a Content Layout, named "MyEmptyList", in the Developer area to show a simple HTML message for empty Content List, such as "Nothing to display at this time."

3. On the site HTML page, in the Settings of the Content List, the settings show that the field "Empty Content List Default" is set to this custom content layout named, "MyEmptyList"

4. In reviewing Assets under the area: Administration --> Assets --> Content Types, the Content Layout tab: The Layout Styles for "Empty Content List Default" is set to "MyEmptyList" and the Layout Style for "Content List Default" is set to "Default"

Issue: when customer attempts to preview the site HTML page, the "MyEmptyList" layout.html does not get rendered and the user never sees the message "Nothing to display at this time."
