Input Interface UI: Item Record Stuck in the Stage Table (Doc ID 2629929.1)

When using the API (or any supported input interface format e.g. xls) to UPDATE an item, the modification is not reflected in WMS Cloud.
There is an item record stuck in the stage table (with the following values):

Style = ABC123, Action Code = UPDATE, Status = Failed, Err Str = Item not found: A123, barcode = A123
