Can We Customize Catalog "Refine By" Feature in Commerce Cloud? (Doc ID 2640881.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 20, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Is there a way to customize catalog "Refine By" in Commerce Cloud to restrict navigation at certain level?

Example - Following is the Categories and respective product hierarchy defined currently,

C1 has C2 as sub-collection.
C2 has C3 as sub-collection.
C1 has C4 as sub-collection.
C4 has C5 and C8 as sub-collections.
C5 has C6 and C7 as sub-collections.
C6 has products P1 to P10
C7 has products P11 to P15
C8 has C9 and C10 as sub-collections.
C9 has products P16 to P24
C10 has products P25 to P30

| C1 > C2 > C3> C4 > C5 > C6 > P1, P2, P3, P4 ... P10.
| > C7 > P11, P12, ... P15
| C8 > C9 > P16, P17 ... P24
| > C10 > P25...P30

Now the query here is when navigated from C1 to C5 (through hierarchy), all the products P1 to P15 are displayed, even though they are not directly associated to C5. In the facet refinement C6 and C7 are displayed Category dimension. If user clicks on C6, results are filtered to display P1 to P10.

At this point would like to change this behavior to perform like when navigated from C1 to C4 the navigation should switch over to facet navigation which means products P1 to P30 should be displayed and refinement facets should display C5 and C8.
