Symptoms

Oracle Management Cloud (OMC), Experiencing issues with log collection by the cloud agent. The agent provides some log entries on startup but stops sending shortly after.

Stack Observed from <Agent_Instance>/sysman/log/gcagent.log file:

[274:Log.23 (LogCollector_os_file)] ERROR - Critical error: java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.sysman.emaas.logcollector.handler.DirHandler.handle(DirHandler.java:234)
at oracle.sysman.emaas.logcollector.BaseFileCollector.collectData(BaseFileCollector.java:319)
at oracle.sysman.emaas.logcollector.BaseFileCollector.run(BaseFileCollector.java:233)
at oracle.sysman.emaas.lama.loganalytics.BaseFileCollectorTask.run(BaseFileCollectorTask.java:55)
