Symptoms

Unable to mount Windows 2016 share on Oracle Linux 

$ sudo mount -t cifs //<SERVER>/<SHARE> /mnt -o sec=ntlm,vers=1.0,username=<DOMAIN/USERNAME>,password=<PASSWORD>
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Logs in /var/log/message show:

Feb 28 09:07:03 <HOST> kernel: Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Feb 28 09:07:03 <HOST> kernel: CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
Feb 28 09:07:03 <HOST> kernel: CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
