What Is The Official Policy For The Referrer Header In OCC And How is The 'origin' Option Handled? (Doc ID 2651124.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 14, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Cloud Service - Version N/A to N/A
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The scenario is that when a customer through an HTTP site clicks on a link to go to the target OCC site (which is HTTPS) the 'document.referrer' variable which is used by Google Analytics to determinate from where the customer comes, loses the information and indicates that the client comes always directly, like it accesses directly the target OCC site and not through another link in another site.

To fix the above situation it was suggested to apply the following fix to solve that issue.

The question is if applying the above suggestion using 'origin' will the initial problem be solved and whether this is acceptable by OCC?
