Bi-Publisher Crashes With "ORA-01008: not all variables bound Action" Error When Defining Cascading Parameters or Two "Menu" Parameters That Prompt A List Of Values (Doc ID 2665982.1)

Last updated on MAY 01, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Analytics Cloud - Classic - Version N/A to N/A [Release 14.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : NA version, Layered Compute - BI Publisher

BI Publisher crashes when defining two "menu" parameters that prompt a list of values.

Example:

a table that contains these columns:
- RVP_name (RVP := Regional Vice President)
- Salesperson_name
- Salesperson_email_address
- more data columns about the Salesperson

There is a 1 to many hierarchy between RVP and Salespersons. 1 RVP --> N salespersons

Need to produce a report that has two parameters:
- RVP
- Salesperson

The user will pick one RVP from a list.

This will refresh the Salesperson parameter, to show only Salespersons that belong to that RVP.

The user will pick one or several salesperson(s)

The data model will query rows from the table where RVP = :RVP and Salesperson_name in (:Salesperson)

This works in OBIEE 11g On Premise.

The very same BI publisher report, archived and then unarchived in OAC, crashes with this error message:

ERROR
-----------------------
Parameter name: Salesperson oracle.xdo.servlet.data.DataException:
oracle.xdo.XDOException: oracle.xdo.XDOException: java.sql.SQLException:
java.sql.SQLException: 115: [JDSError : 115] Invalid Database Name - Cause: ORA-01008: not all variables bound Action:

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Create data model.

Add cascading parameters.
