Not Able To Get Custom Field Created In Customer Contact Profile Via Rest API Hit (Doc ID 2673624.1)

Symptoms

Customer have added a custom field in Customer Contact Profile with API name as BRCM_RelContactType_c, and added it in the Account's Contact subtab landing page. But, they are not able to find this field via Rest API hit, API URLs used :
https://xxxxxxxxxx:443/crmRestApi/resources/latest/contacts/?q=AccountPartyNumber=xxxx
