How to give new owners access to Activities

We have had to make quite a few changes recently to owners of accounts in Sales Cloud due to people not with the company any longer. But, the new owners cannot see the prior activities on the account that were owned by someone else. When I look at resources for the activity, only the old owner is listed there. I added the option ZMM_ACTIVITY_ENABLE_ALL_RECORDS to let people see all activities, but it is almost impossible to find what they are looking for. Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Can we add more fields to the Search and filter screens (like the registry ID). There must be an easy way to do this. We do not want to change the owner name and want to keep the person who did the activity/appointment the same.
