Nothing Happens When Enabling a Repository With yum-config-manager --enable (Doc ID 2737526.1)

Symptoms

Performing the following steps causes no repositories able to be enabled:

# start with a clean slate
sudo yum clean all
# wipe out /etc/yum.repos.d
sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/*; sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/.*
# check whether oraclelinux-release-el7 is installed
rpm -q oraclelinux-release-el7
oraclelinux-release-el7-1.0-13.1.el7.x86_64
# not able to enable any repository
sudo yum-config-manager --enable ol7_addons
loaded plugins: langpacks
<no other output>

 

Changes

 /etc/yum.repos.d/* files were deleted as part of a clean-up process
