Configure Search And Select Default Values Is Not Defaulting Search Value (Doc ID 2750072.1)

Symptoms

Configured default values for search and select dialog are not reflected on the UI.
When trying to add a record from related object, the configuration for the search popup dialog are ignored.

This happening for Related Object and for M:M Object

Steps for M:M Child Object
1. Create relationship between opportunity and a custom object
Source object Opportunity
Target Object - standalone custom object Cardinality M:M
2. Create a custom layout in opportunity details pages
3. Create a child object subtab in opportunity Details page. Select the intersection object created at step #1
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on edit button near Configure Search and Select Default Values
5. Make some changes like, add some default values and make some of them read only, save and close
6. Go to Opportunities - Edit an opty -> go to the new subtab , click on Add button and verify the search dialog
It is not displayed as per the configuration at step #5

Steps for Related Object.
1. Create a DCL in a standalone custom object pointing to Opportunity
2. In Reusable Regions create a custom layout and add some fields to the search region
3. Go to Opportunity Object - Details pages and create a custom layout
4. Create a Related Object subtab. For Data Object select the CO used at step #1
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on edit button near Configure Search and Select Default Values
6. Make some changes like, add some default values and make some of them read only, save and close
7. Go to Opportunities - Edit an opty -> go to the new subtab , click on Add button and verify the search dialog
It is not displayed as per the configuration at step #6

The search dialog works fine in a subtab created on DCL pointing to a OOTB object like Contacts
