Response Via E-mail Sporadically Does Not Work

On : Unifier 19.12.7
When the 'Enable response via e-mail' setting is enabled/checked for a step in a workflow type Business Process (BP) record:
A Unifier user receives a system-generated e-mail notification with the ability to take some action and have Unifier send the record to the next step in the workflow based on the action taken.
The action is taken and the e-mail is sent back to Unifier.
However, the job does not seem to be picked up and processed and the record has not been moved to the next step in the workflow.
This happens sporadically.
The response via e-mail job should have been picked up and processed, and the record should have moved to the next step in the workflow.
