P6 Professional Reports Are Very Slow or Freeze

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When running reports in P6 Professional, they either run very slowly or get stuck with no further progress.
Reports should complete in 2 - 3 minutes.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- In P6 Professional, navigate to Enterprise > Projects and open a project.
- Navigate to Tools > Reports > Reports.
- In the Reports window right click on the desired report and select Run > Batch....
- In the Batch Report pop-up window select the desired report then click OK.
- In the next window select the ASCII Text Files option then click OK.
- Observe the reported behavior.
