Symptoms
Total Start/End date can be updated to a value less than VDATE based on "Sales Audit Data Stored" system option.
For e.g if "Sales Audit Data Stored flag is 90 - System lets the Start/End date to be updated to a value that's 90 days less than the VDATE.
Steps to Reproduce:

1. Set "Sales Audit Data Stored" system option flag to 90.
2. Note Total Start/End date can be updated to a value less than VDATE based on this system option.
