Sending email through Microsoft email adapter fails with 404 MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI (Doc ID 2787175.1)

Goal

Customer has setup Microsoft Email Adapter connection where they had switched from outlook.com email account to office 365 dedicated account user e.g. OICUser@<accountname>.onmicrosoft.com.
Connection test works fine but when this adapter used in an integration to send an email, it fails with the following error :
