Task is getting escalated instead of renewed when Reassign is used (Doc ID 2805878.1)

Goal

Can you help clarify the expected behavior?

For absence approval rules, we have set renewals of approval requests at 170 days. If absences are not approved by Line Manager, there will be 10 renewals at each 170 days. In dev1, for testing purposes I have set only 2 renewals and it happens at each 5 minutes.

After setting the above in dev1, I have enabled a vacation rule for the Line Manager who had to approve absences.

First I used Delegate option and the renewal notifications came all to the person that was delegated to approve;

Second time I used Reassign option and the renewal notifications went up to the manager hierarchy of the person that was delegated to approve absences. First notification went to his Line Manager, second one to the Line Manager of the Line Manager and so on up until the top of the management hierarchy.

What I don't understand is why reassign works like this?
