Adding a Calculated Column to a Graph Visualization in an Oracle Analytics Project Fails with: Only Measure Data is Allowed (Doc ID 2811372.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 01, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Analytics Cloud - Version 106.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) ...

A Project is created from a Dataset where some columns have numeric values but are Attributes (not Measures).
For example: See "A" (and not a "#" symbol) next to the column in the Dataset pane.

Adding such a column to a Graph visualization fails with the message: Only Measure Data is Allowed.
For example: Drag the column to the Values (Y-Axis) section of a Bar visualization.

A Calculation is added to try to create a Measure column that can be graphed, but the calculated column is still seen as an Attribute (See "A" next to the column under My Calculations).
For example: CASE WHEN "Numeric Rating" = 1 THEN 500*0.01 ELSE (CASE WHEN "Numeric Rating" = 2 THEN 500*0.02 ELSE 500*0.03 END) END
