Symptoms

Workflow transactions are active but approval notification is expired after removing deadline in BPM

After removal of the deadline that was configured on a task in BPM Worklist, the transaction approvals that were in process at the time are not expired and approvers are unable to approve.
Tried to reassign the approval in hopes it would renew the approval request but an error occurs that they are in process.
