A Connection to the Server has Failed (Status:503) (Doc ID 2848024.1)

Symptoms

When users are trying to perform an action within the UI eg Associate a diff id to a diff group the user interface is going stale with the error as a connection to the server has failed (status=503).

Steps To Recreate:
1) Navigate to Foundation Data -> Item Foundation -> Diff groups
2) Select a diff group -> select '+' in the details
3) Select a new diff id to be associated
4) Click on OK
5) Screen hangs and error message is displayed (A connection to the server has failed. (status=503)

Note: This is just one example of how the error may be presented, another known action was performing a cost change on Manage Cost Changes screen.
