Goal
On : SOACS
Oracle recently announced the transition of their Intel X7 (Standard, HPC2 and GPU) shapes to previous generation starting 02/28/2022.
The impact is, since older generation X7 SKU will no longer be manufactured and OCI cannot purchase additional hardware from its vendors after the dates noted above, then Oracle cannot guarantee fulfillment of additional capacity of X7 based shapes in certain high demand regions such as Ashburn.
Therefore, Oracle will not be able to support any further growth of X7 SKU in any of the regions with limited capacity.
The recommendation from Oracle is, prior to the transition date of X7 SKUs, to use alternate platforms to grow customer's usage on OCI and encourage customers to qualify new generation shapes as soon as possible.
So, our customer instances at SOACS are affected by this "transition" to previous generation, and the alternate new generation shapes for X7 are:
FOR CURRENT SKU: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Compute - Virtual Machine Standard - X7
PRIMARY ALTERNATE SKU RECOMMENDED: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Compute - Standard - X9
CONSOLE NAME (SHAPE): VM.Standard3.Flex
Now the relevant question
what will be the proccess to grow or upgrade current VM.Standard2.* instances to VM.Standard3.flex instances at SOACS?
