Release Schedule and Notifications – FAQs
-
Can Oracle Commerce updates be skipped or postponed?
Oracle Commerce upgrades cannot be skipped or postponed. Not only do they contain new features and enhancements, but they contain critical application and platform fixes.
The cadence of releases is designed to maintain compliance and security of customer environments. -
What time do the updates start and end? Is there any downtime?
The standard maintenance window for both non-production and production environments is 9:00pm - 5:00am Eastern Time, Sunday through Thursday.
There is minimal downtime for non-production upgrades and zero downtime for production upgrades. -
How long is the testing period?
Oracle provides at least 3 weeks of testing time prior to executing the PRODUCTION upgrade
-
What is the update notification schedule for customers?
A one-time annual notice is sent to all customers outlining which week during the upcoming year their upgrades will be scheduled, followed by specific version and date information at least one week prior to the scheduled upgrades.
These emails are sent to customer the contacts as configured in My Cloud Services. Customers are responsible for configuring who receives these notices in My Cloud Services using their Oracle Cloud account credentials. -
Does it matter which data center a customer is in?
No, upgrades are done by schedule and not by location.
-
How do I know which Oracle Commerce version a customer is on?
The Oracle Commerce Admin UI displays the current version a customer is running. The version a customer is upgrading to is included in the customer notice that is sent at least one week prior to their scheduled upgrade

Are there other updates made to customer environments, in addition to regular application upgrades?
Yes, these include:
- Quarterly database (DB) patching: Customer notifications are sent at least one week in advance. Patching is done in groups by data center and non-production vs. production. Downtime is required for non-production, but there is no downtime for this DB patching in production.
- CPU/security/audit patching: This is deployed as part of the regular upgrade process, as associated with a specific version, and usually no specific notice is given to customers other than their application upgrade.
- Hotfixes: These are deployed as needed with customers notified in advance of a bug fix if there is a version change (i.e. 21.3.6 -> 21.3.6.1).
