Select Single Component (oj-select-single) Clear Is Not Working (Doc ID 2881367.1)

Goal

On Visual Builder Version 22.07/Oracle JET Version12.0.4 using oj-select-single component to select and search  single value. Users are trying to remove already selected value
Currently this can be achieved only by deleting the text and pressing tab/enter on desktop.

Would like to know if there is way to clear/remove using mouse.

Is it not possible to apply changes soon after removing the data from select one component by clicking on back space? i.e from JET Cookbook here 

Step1: Select value in select single component

Step2: Delete already selected value in select single component by  using key board back button(User does not like to provide value as it is optional field)
Step3: Originally selected values is coming back when move the cursor out of the select single component.
Note: User need to click on Tab after clearing the field which is additional click
