Visual Builder Input Field Retaining Old Values When Field Is Required (Doc ID 2886308.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2022

Applies to:

Visual Builder Studio - Version 22.07.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In this use case, a page has an input box with a button for navigation.  A flow variable is being used to hold the value from the input field.  An unexpected result occurs from initiating the following steps:

1. Enter a value in a required field on a page and click outside of the field.
2. Remove the entered value and click outside the field.  The required error message will be displayed: "The field is required."
3. Navigate to any other page and come back to the page with the input field.

The originally entered value will be seen in the input field where the value was removed.  The expectation is that the field would be blank.

This only occurs when a flow variable is used for the input field.  The process works as expected when a page variable is used.

Why is this field not showing as blank when the navigation steps indicated above are completed?
What can be done to remove the original value from the field?
