Information Center: OCI Networking - Domain Name System (DNS) and Traffic Management (Doc ID 2887419.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2023

Welcome to the OCI Domain Name System (DNS) and Traffic Management Information Center!

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a distributed internet system that maps human-readable names (such as Oracle.com) to IP addresses and serves as the first link in the customers digital supply chain. Oracles globally distributed DNS service offers enhanced DNS performance, resiliency, and scalability so that end users connect to customers applications as quickly as possible from wherever they are.

OCI Traffic management, a critical component of DNS, enables users to configure routing policies to serve intelligent responses to DNS queries. Oracle Traffic Management steering policies are used to steer DNS traffic across multiple public Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instances and other private and third-party assets.
