Unable To Save Service Requests in NextGen UI Getting 'Save Failed' Error (Doc ID 2888022.1)

Symptoms

In Create Service Requests UI click on Save there is an error message at the bottom that says

ERROR

Save Failed

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a SR
2. Click save and see the error

Changes

 A new required custom field is added to service request object
