Preferred name only needs to show in Workforce Comp Planning

We are working to set up our Workforce Comp Plan and it has recently come to our attention that for our Transgendered employees it is showing both given name and preferred name. Since this field is auto enabled and there is no way to direct the field as to which name to choose, is there another solution so that we are not inadvertently outing our transgendered community?
