Why are fields that are deliberately hidden from 'Me > Family and Emergency Contacts' now automatically being hidden from 'Benefits > People to Cover' as well?

Customer has hidden the following fields using Page Composer at Me > Family and Emergency Contacts:

• Remove “Select a Coworker as a Contact”
• Remove from Basic information:
  -Honors
  -Gender
  -Date of Birth
  -Start of this relationship
  -National Identifiers

All this fields are now automatically hidden at Benefits page > People to Cover except Gender. Why did this happen?
Please help me with the following questions:

1. Is there a way to hide these fields only at Me >Family and Emergency Contacts and not at benefits page?
2. Why is the Gender field still present at Benefits page, but hidden at Emergency contacts?
