Error: "500 Internal Server" and Cannot Login to BIP (Doc ID 2910677.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to login to BI Publisher from the Cloud Portal, the following error occurs.

Browser: 500 Internal Server
Error Information:

Servlet Name: JspServlet
Request URL: /xmlpserver/login.jsp
Inspect the log file for details

or

Servlet Name: /login.jsp
Request URI: /xmlpserver/login.jsp


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Cloud Portal and login via SSO.
  2. Click on the "Oracle BIP" link.
  3. Wait 1-2 min (spinning).
  4. Note the reported error.
