Selecting Display View Picker In Web My Preferences Changes Assigned UIV To Personal UIV (Doc ID 2944806.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2023

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Cloud Service - Version 21.12.10.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

When configuring User Interface Views and assigning them to users on the P6 Web Administration > User Interface Views page, the Name field changes to (Personal).  When the assigned user logs into P6 Web and navigates to Welcome > My Preferences > View, the assigned UIV appears in the Name field, but when the user then checks the Display View Picker box the Name field changes to (Personal), which changes the assigned UIV in P6 User Admin for this user to the username.

When making any changes to the configured UIVs in the Administration tab, these are not applied to the user because the assigned UIV to the user is no longer the custom configured one, but the "personal" one.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Selecting the Display View Picker in My Preferences should not change the UIV.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Log into P6 Web as an admin-superuser and navigate to Administration > User Interface Views.
    1. Click Add to create a new User Interface View.
    2. Enter a Name, set the Start Page field to Dashboard, and click Save.
    3. Select the Dashboards sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes.
    4. Select the Portfolios sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes with the exception of Performance Status.
    5. Select the Projects sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes with the exception of EPS and Activities.
    6. Select the Resources sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes with the exception of Administration.
    7. Select the Approvals sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes.
    8. Select the Administration sub-tab and unmark all the check boxes.
    9. Click Save.
    10. Navigate to Administration > User Administration > Users and select an existing non-admin-superuser user account.
    11. Change the User Interface View from the existing to the newly-created one, assign Module Access to Projects and Resources, and click Save.
  2. Log out of P6 Web then log back in as the selected non-admin user.
    1. Navigate to Welcome > My Preferences > View and note the Name field displays the name of the new view created above.
    2. In the same view select the Projects sub-tab, check the Display View Picker box for the EPS row, and click Save.
    3. Note that the Name field above has now changed to (Personal).  Click Close.
    4. Navigate to the Projects tab, note that the EPS and Activities sub-tabs are available for selection.
    5. Navigate to the Resources tab, note that the Administration sub-tab is the only option available to select.
  3. Log out of P6 Web, then log back in as an admin-superuser.
    1. Navigate to Administration > User Administration > Users and select the same non-admin user account as above.
    2. Check the User Interface View column, note that it now contains the user's account name.
    3. Navigate to Administration > User Interface Views and highlight the view name created above.
    4. Select the Projects sub-tab and check the Assignments box.
    5. Select the Resources sub-tab, check the Assignments box, and click Save.
  4. Log out of P6 Web then log back in as the non-admin user.
    1. Select the Projects tab, note that because the new view created above is no longer assigned to the user after the Display View Picker option was selected on the last login, the user doesn't see the Assignments tab.
    2. Select the Resources tab, note that because the new view created above is no longer assigned to the user after the Display View Picker option was selected on the last login, the user doesn't see the Assignments tab.
