Bulk Update Does Gives Success Message but the DE Is Not Updated

Symptoms
ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Users are attempting to update Business Process (BP) records, users get the success message, but the value in the desired Data Element (DE) never changes and there is nothing in the audit log. Other DEs in same BP do work in bulk update.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
The DE should get updated using bulk edit.
STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Log in to Unifier as user
- Navigate to Shell > Affected BP
- Highlight records being bulk edited
- Click on Actions menu, select Bulk Edit
- In the list of fields, check the Short Description Text DE and add the desired value
- Click on Update and note the success status
- Close bulk edit window and open record
- Note the value in the DE has not changed.
