Purpose
This document provides an overview of the strategic plans and future direction of Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud Service and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Enterprise Cloud Service Profitability and Cost Management Business Process. Included is information about the change in Development focus to the newer Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management Application Type available exclusively with Enterprise Performance Management Enterprise Cloud Service.
Introduction
Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud provides a cloud-based modeling and calculation platform that supports financial modeling and allocation transformation processes in support of Oracle ERP and Oracle EPM. Profitability and Cost Management allows you to perform allocations and transformations of financial and operational data to support costing and assess profitability of business offerings, markets, and channels.
Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud Service was introduced in 2016. In 2018 Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Enterprise Cloud Service was introduced (EPM Enterprise). EPM Enterprise includes Profitability and Cost Management (PCM) Business Process along with the full complement of EPM Business Processes. In June, 2022 Oracle released a new application type, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management (EPCM) for all EPM Enterprise customers.
Oracle’s Product Strategy
The release of EPCM represents a major upgrade with significant enhancements. The following capabilities are available only with EPCM. They are unavailable with the Profitability and Cost Management Application Type:
- EPM Dashboards and Infolets
- Data Forms
- EPM Platform Smart View AddIn with Dimension Edit and Forms capability
- EPM Platform Application and Dimension Management
- EPM Platform Connection and Custom Navigation Flows
- Data Exchange, Data Integration and Data Maps, EPM Agent
- Oracle Analytics Cloud Integration
- Oracle Enterprise Data Management Integration
- 5 Cubes; Calculation, Reporting and 3 Custom Cubes
- Redesigned Model Manager, Rule Designer, Calculation Control, Calculation Analysis and Model Validation functions
Going forward Oracle Development will focus future innovation efforts on EPCM. For the Profitability and Cost Management Application Type Oracle development will provide updates for 3rd party component compliance, security, and limited functional enhancements.
Actions
While Oracle will continue to support the existing Profitability and Cost Management Application Types in accordance with the Oracle Cloud Hosting and Delivery Policies (link), future enhancements to the Profitability and Cost Management Application Type are not planned. Profitability and Cost Management application type customers are advised to migrate their applications to EPCM. Please contact your account representative to obtain the environments necessary for migration. A migration utility has been made available to assist.
