"You do not have the privilege required to perform this action" When Creating a New Project with Proper Permissions (Doc ID 2988021.1)

Symptoms

When a user tries to create a new project in an EPS node in which they have the proper permissions, they are not able to create a new project.
If you enable the Project Security Profile privilege "Edit Publication Priority" then the user can create a new project successfully.

ERROR

You do not have the privilege required to perform this action.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Log into P6 Web as an Admin SuperUser.
  2. Go to Administration > User Administration > Project Security Profile.
  3. Create a new Project Security Profile assigning the following privileges:
    • Add Projects
    • Edit Project Details Except Costs/Financials
    • Add/Edit/Delete WBS Except Costs/Financials
    • Edit WBS Costs/Financials
    • View Project Costs/Financials
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Go to Administration > User Administration > OBS.
  6. Create a new OBS element.
  7. Save the changes.
  8. Go to Projects > EPS.
  9. Create a new EPS node.
  10. Save the changes.
  11. Assign the new OBS (created in Step 6) as Responsible Manager to the new EPS (created in Step 9).
  12. Go to Administration > User Administration > Users.
  13. Create a new non-admin user.
  14. Under Project Access, assign the new OBS (created in Step 6) to the user with the new Project Security Profile (created in Step 3).

  15. Log into P6 Web with the non-admin user created in Step 13.
  16. Go to Projects > EPS.
  17. Right-click on the new EPS node and select Add Project.
  18. Enter a project ID and project Name and then click Create.
  19. The following error will occur: "You do not have the privilege required to perform this action".
  20. Cancel the error and exit the Add Project dialog.

  21. Log into P6 Web as an Admin SuperUser.
  22. Go to Administration > User Administration > Project Security Profile.
  23. Locate the Project Security Profile created in Step 3 and assign privilege:
    • Edit Publication Priority.
  24. Save the changes.

  25. Log into P6 Web with the non-admin user created in Step 13.
  26. Go to Projects > EPS.
  27. Right-click on the new EPS node and select Add Project.
  28. Enter a project ID and project Name and then click Create.
  29. Notice that the user is able to create the project.
