Goal
Order orchestration process in order management has a web service based create reservation step. For customers with a volume of 10,000 sales order or more per day, we have observed that the creation of reservation in inventory after interfacing from order management is likely to become a constraint. This may be because of various reasons like peak volume at a specific time and / or most orders are a rush for a specific item etc. In most projects, the volume testing happens during UAT or during data migration. When this issue is identified in UAT or data migration, it becomes a challenge for both implementation teams and the customer to manage budget and timelines.
While Oracle Order Management Product Development is working to find a permanent solution to this challenge, this document provides guidelines on how this challenge can be addressed by a simple solution using the reservation interface tables to manage high volumes.
