When Trying To Update A Users Resource Type Without Changing The External ID An Error Is Observed: "The field cannot be empty or the value is not valid" (Doc ID 3017235.1)

Symptoms

When trying to update a user Resource Type without changing the External ID, an error is observed.

"This External ID already exists. Please add another one"


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. The resource is currently in Oracle Field Service as a Resource Type of Manager/Dispatcher/Admin.
2. The resource needs to be moved to <ORGANIZATION> to become an Access Ops Engineer (Network Field Engineer in OFS terms):
3. Change the Resource Type to Network Field Engineer.
4. Click submit - Cannot update an existing user to a different Resource Type.

Changes

Change the role of an existing resource.
