Symptoms
Weekly period HOS rule not applied considering multiple shipments the driver does over a week. Driving Hours for Driver is getting cleared once a Shipment is completed in OTM.
Requirement: There are two types of HOS rules to be implemented.
1. A continuous rule where drivers need to rest for 13 hours when they drive for 8 hours.
2. A periodic rule over 7 days, where the drivers need to rest for 24 hours when they drive for 34 hours within the 7-day period.
Issue: Customer is seeing a difference in the way OTM applies rest time depending on how the driver is being assigned to shipments.
Scenario 1 (The correct behavior) – Multiple shipments are planned to span the whole week into the future and then a single driver is assigned for all the shipments. OTM correctly provides the rest time including 13 hours as well as 24 hours where relevant.
Scenario 2 (The issue) – Multiple shipments are planned to span the whole week, but the driver is assigned only to the first shipment and the execution begins. The driver is assigned to the second shipment after the first shipment is completed and then to the third shipment once the second shipment is completed and so on. OTM only provides the 13 hours rest time to the driver with the assumption that the driver starts fresh for each shipment. The time spent on the previous shipment is ignored. We’ve tried the below to get OTM to consider the HoS history, with no change in the behavior.
