Clarification on the historical data migration process ?
Our project will be implemented in 3 phases. Each phase refers to a brand controlled by the customer, with different data and in the same environment.
In the first phase, RI will be empty and the historical data load should be "simple".
In the other phases we will have a more complex load of historical data, considering that the environment is already populated with live data from previous phases.
Considering this scenario, we have some doubts about historical data loads.
1 - Load dimensions. In phase 1, a file will be made available with dimensions related to the facts we intend to upload. For a delta load, does the new dimensions file need to be complete or just with the dimensions that appeared after the first load?
2 - Load of non-positional facts. Should non-positional facts be made available in a single file? Are there any recommendations regarding the volume and size of these files?
3 - Load of positional facts. How are positional facts loaded (such as stock position, for example)? How should we make these files available?
4 - Could you provide us with more technical details on how the historical data loading process works?
5 - If we need to clean tables to reload data, how should we proceed?
6 - What are the charging time estimates like in a historical charging process (considering 5 years of data)? (It doesn't need to be accurate, but a reference so we can guide ourselves)
7 - Once the data is migrated in a sterile environment (other than for testing or process validation), does Oracle have any procedure that replicates this data to a productive environment in order to avoid massive load processes?
8- What does Oracle suggest as the best alternative for loading historical data within the scenario described above?
