Tasks > Items > Manage Items
Search for existing item with child items
Action > Create Like Item
In the Dialog Box that appears, under "Attributes Available To Be Copied," the option "Child Items" is available to check.
Select Item Number Type
In the Dialog Box that appears, under "Attributes Available To Be Copied," the option "Child Items" unchecks and greys out.

How can this box be enabled once Item Numbers are set?
