Last updated on OCTOBER 31, 2024

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to sort account hierarchy nodes in a specific sequence to display hierarchical data in the desired order on the income statement and balance sheet reports.  Requesting feature within the semantic layer to sort the descriptive column values according to a designated code (sort order) column. This will enable the sort order column to display the hierarchy nodes accordingly.

For example Added a new dimension using "Add a Dimension" step in Semantic Model Extensions to custom branch. There is no option to set sort order column on the dimensional columns within the dimension, to sort the descriptive values based on codes. Although we see these feature was implemented for OOTB dimensions (For ex., Period Name sorted based on Period Number).
