Symptoms
When logging into either the Project Management or Methodology Management client application, the following error is received:
ERROR
"Unable to connect to the database. Would you like to configure the database connection now?"

Cause 1: The database alias, used to connect to the database, is configured with incorrect server connection variables and must be updated. |
Cause 2: The database engine is not started. |
Cause 3: SQL SERVER ONLY - The SQL Server Browser is not running, preventing the SQL instance from being found. |
Cause 4: OracleXE SERVER ONLY - The Standalone Wizard failed to create the P6 schema (database) within the Oracle XE database server. |
Cause 5: OracleXE SERVER ONLY -The P6 schema users are expired or locked. |
Cause 6: P6 Professional is configured to connect to an EPPM database using CloudConnect, but, P6 EPPM (including the P6ProCloudConnect managed server) is not running. |
Solution |
Solution 1: Configure / re-configure the database alias. |
Solution 2: Start the database engine. |
Solution 3: SQL SERVER ONLY - Start the SQL Server Browser. |
Solution 4: OracleXE ONLY - Create an OracleXE database. |
Solution 5: OracleXE SERVER ONLY - Unlock the P6 schema users. |
Solution 6: Start the P6 EPPM and P6ProCloudConnect servers. |
Solution 7: Either configure the database connection logged in as the new user or copy the PrmBootStrapV2.xml from the configured user's Appdata folder to the user who has not been configured. |
