Avoiding Truncate During a Complete Snapshot / Materialized View Refresh (Doc ID 1029824.6)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 11, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 8.1.7.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The materialized view or snapshot base table is truncated as part of a complete refresh, this may cause applications to encounter data loss or inconsistency or ORA-8103. This occurs because Oracle queries run in read consistent mode.

You must have snapshots that perform a complete refresh and when you select from the materialized view / snapshot, you receive 0 (Zero) rows returned.
