Symptoms
- symptom: ORA-01144: File size %n blocks exceeds maximum of 4194303 blocks
- cause: The specified file size is larger than the maximum allowable size. On RDBMS releases 8.0.x through 10.2.x, the maximum number of blocks limited per data file is 2^22-1 (4194303). Some platforms also limit the maximum data file size and the db_block_size. There are also Oracle database limits on the maximum data file size on certain platforms. For example, for RDBMS version 8.0.5 on HP-UX release 11.0, the maximum data file size is limited to 64Gb.
