10gR2 DBCA Cannot Create 10.2 Databases On An 11gR1 ASM Configuration. (Doc ID 1053588.1)

Symptoms

1) This problem occurred having 2 RAC Oracle Homes, 10.2.0.4 Oracle Home for the database instance and 11.1.0.7 Oracle Home for the ASM instance.

2) After upgrade the ASM Oracle Home from 10.2.0.4 to 11.0.7.0, when run the DBCA from the 10.2.0.4 Oracle Home, to create a new database, DBCA reports the next error:

Error when connection to ASM instance on local node: Listener refused the connection with the following error:

ORA-12523, TNS: listener could not find instance appropriate for the client connection.

The Connection descriptor used by the client was:

(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=) (Port=1800) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=+ASM1) (INSTANCE_NAME=+ASM1) (UR=A)))
