OS Collector Does Not Read SYSLOG Records If Compressed SYSLOG Files Are In The Same Directory (Doc ID 1062801.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 12, 2010

Applies to:

Oracle Audit Vault - Version: 10.2.3.0 to 10.2.3.2 - Release: 10.2 to 10.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The OS collector does not work anymore when some of the OS syslog files are compressed.
The audit records are written to the syslog.  After the current syslog is filled, it is automatically compressed. The OSAUD seems to hang and will not collect any other audit records if there are any compressed syslogs in the same directory.
