Symptoms
In 11.2.0.1.0, when installing or cloning Grid Infrastructure (Clusterware), root.sh installs the ASM Cluster File System (ACFS). When installing ACFS in a domU running a xen/OVM kernel, the base Linux driver installation routines may overwrite grub.conf with an incorrect version. When this happens, the following error may occur:
the VM fails to boot with the following error:
# xm create vm.cfg
Using config file "./vm.cfg".
Error: Boot loader didn't return any data!
This problem has been observed on OEL5/RHEL5 Update 3 and OEL5/RHEL5 Update4.
Changes
This can happen during 11.2.0.1.0 Grid Infrastructure (Clusterware) installation or cloning operation.
